I need information regarding ‘deer slayer’ insects, that come out on the Baja during the summer.?
Those are harmless arachnids technically known as “solpugids” or “solifugids”.
They are not part of the spider family though, they are grouped by themselves as are scorpians and harvestmen (daddy long legs).
There are many different types, with all sorts of names. For the most part, they typicaly look “spider-like”, or sometimes like a scorpian without a tail (or claws, but there fore-legs do resemble pincers in the way they are held).
There are dozens of totally ludicrous urban legends about them, especially promulgated by our own troops in the middle east, where tall tales about “camel spiders” are considered hilarious, and told to the new, frightened recruits to frighten them even more.
They can, however, inflict a good bite that can be painful and get infected because of there usualy large jaw-size. None are none to be poisonous. Those jaws are put to good use, primarily for catching prey, as they are voracious hunters of just about anything there size or smaller.

Slayer $13.46 A secret U.S. military strike force battles a vampire infestation in the South American jungle in this action/horror film commissioned for the SciFi cable network.
