What is your preferred method for using a fishing license while Centerpin?

I decided to start using a Centerpin for fishing. What I'm looking for you all is their methods of their use. IE: What style? Why? How? Where? Furthermore, I agree any other suggestions and additional tips that they can give me. IE: Playing Fish? Loading the reel initially? trot? Drag adjustment? (or equivalent) Maintenance? An ideal reel for use in a river, but not widely used on the lakes today.
