UVB light and Fish Clown Knife!?

I bought a UVB light and placed on top of my turtle tank (25 gallons) (also have a crab River 3 inches in it). However, the side is, is there any effect on people? Can I put my 3 inch clown knife fish in the tank too? I intend to put the clownfish in a tank when stars grow bigger …

UVB is a type of radiation that causes sunburn and (potentially) skin cancer with exposure long enough. It is necessary for some animals for the production of vitamin D3 to help process calcium. Your turtle needs for formation of bone and shell. It would be better if the light is pointed down on the turtle basking area, without glass or plastic, between him and his turtle (these prevent UVB to pass through). Also must be within 12 inches of your turtle, so you get maximum benefit – the lights are not as strong, and out with the distance and therefore benefit more if you can get to where the light is concentrated. Most aquatic turtles eating meat, so I'd be worried by crayfish and knifefish be in the tank. Although crayfish have a hard exoskeleton to protect itself, sometime in crayfish is moving to grow more, and unless there is a cave where they can escape the turtle (and even the knifefish), will be the dinner. Add to that the clown is knifefish scaleless therefore has no protection of the turtle beak or claws, and is more active nocturnally, so you do not appreciate bright lighting. So add the knifefish the turtle tank is not the best plan if you want to remain healthy. And in a potential adult size of 3-3.5 meters, the knife is going to need a bigger tank of their own early.
